The Birth of a Watercolor Journey: Dino’s Portrait
My journey from textile designer to watercolor portrait artist began with a deeply personal and cherished work: a portrait of my beloved middle son, Dino. At the time of this painting, he was my youngest, a true wonder born with a lust for life and a flair for personality. This particular moment, captured by a friend during a dinner outing, features Dino donning a pair of rainbow sunglasses borrowed from my friend’s daughter. I was captivated by the vibrant colors and the close-up composition, which perfectly reflected Dino's spirited nature. This portrait not only marks the start of my fulfilling art journey but also immortalizes a precious, joy-filled moment of my son's childhood.
Eva’s Sun-Kissed Beach Day
When a friend saw the portraits of my boys, she asked me to paint her daughter, Eva. From several options, I chose this enchanting scene: Eva sun-kissed at the beach, clutching a green shovel. Between building sandcastles, she stands up, her blonde tresses blowing in the briny breeze. She gazes out towards the ocean, dressed in a pale pink polka dot suit with ruffles. This close-up composition beautifully captures the innocence and wonder of a carefree beach day.
Oscar's Tender Moment with a Barn Kitten
When you paint one son, you must paint the other. My second ever watercolor portrait is of my eldest son, Oscar, at around 4 years old. During a visit to a friend's farm, Oscar stumbled upon a litter of barn kittens. Always a sensitive soul with a love for nature, he gently held one of the kittens, showcasing his curious and kind heart. This black-and-white close-up captures the tenderness of the moment and Oscar's innate compassion, preserving a cherished memory of his early childhood.
